Why was my IPO application rejected?

An IPO application can get rejected due to various reasons - it can be technical, due to error on part of the intermediary or could be at your when making the application. Here are some of the common reasons for IPO transaction rejection:

  • Multiple applications: You used the same PAN number for making multiple applications. Only one application is allowed per PAN.
  • Invalid UPI ID: You entered an incorrect UPI ID or incorrect bank details.
  • Mandate not approved: You did not approve the UPI mandate request within the deadlines.
  • Insufficient funds: Your mandate was declined due to insufficient funds in your bank account.
  • Technical Issues: Problems with your UPI app, bank, or the IPO sponsor bank could cause rejections.

Here are some important tips to avoid rejection of your IPO application:

  • Submit one application per PAN.
  • Ensure your bank account, demat account, and UPI ID are linked to the same PAN.
  • Double-check the accuracy of your UPI ID.
  • Approve the UPI mandate in your UPI app as soon as you receive it.
  • Make sure you enter the correct PIN on your UPI app while authorizing the mandate.
  • Submit and approve mandate before the deadline; the deadline to accept UPI mandates for an IPO is 5 PM on the closing day.
