What is the difference between a stock split and a bonus issue?
In a stock split, the face value of each share is reduced, and the number of shares increases proportionately.
In a bonus issue, the company issues additional shares to eligible shareholders from its free reserves or surplus, without changing the face value of the existing shares.
Both increase the number of shares held, but they are different corporate actions.
