Does a stock split increase the value of my investment?

No. A stock split does not increase or decrease the overall value of your investment. The split only increases the quantity of shares and adjusts the price of the stock proportionally, ensuring the value of your investments stays the same.

For example:

  • Before split: you own 100 shares at ₹1,000, which means your investment is ₹1,00,000
  • After a 1:2 split: you will now own 200 shares, and the price of the stock will come down to ₹500. Despite the change, the value of your investment still stays the same, i.e. ₹1,00,000
